How to be mindful and focus

Updated: Jul 24, 2018

If you believe in manifestation, then you may believe in the idea that your thoughts direct your life. If I look back the things that actually came true, they were the things along the way I believed in without a doubt or that I was just focusing on for the moment.

I had one of those moments this weekend, and it highlighted the importance of protecting your thoughts and keeping them focused on exactly what you want.

I recently posted a story that I hadn’t thought about in years. It was a small part of the story, too.

The story was about my dad’s wife, and it took place more than 15 years ago.

At the time she was very close to my daughters. They were young and loved spending time with her.

She chose to be called Nana, as in Grandma. After my father died, she no longer wanted to be Nana (Grandma) anymore. Not an easy lesson to explain to 2 little girls.

Nana worked at the local public school, and she was a favorite among the kids. When my daughters reached middle school, they had X-Grandma as their teacher.

I hadn’t thought of this story in ages. I was thinking of this particular period in my life, and it came up.

On our way to dinner Saturday night, I was telling my husband about the post.

With my kids well beyond grade school, I hadn’t seen or heard mention of Nana for many years. Then last night, after speaking her back into existence, at the restaurant we ran into an old neighbor that asked me about her.

Evidently, she assumed we were still close, and I would know. She went on to say how she (Nana) used to come over regularly and hang out with her daughters. They helped her to her first date when my dad died. How sweet of her to share…

This was too coincidental, and it reminds me that your thoughts hold enormous power to direct your life.

Was it divine intervention?

The point of the original post was to illustrate how I moved forward, but I still felt it, and therefore it’s still taking up space.

This story taught me the following:

– To move forward, you need to let go of your old stories. Forgive them. Forgive yourself. Let it go.

– Your thoughts create your reality! Stay focused on the future and on exactly what you want.

– You never know what is going on in other people’s lives or them in yours. Never assume!

– Other people can only see things from their perspective. Don’t take anything personally.

-Take control of your thoughts. Be selective in what you bring up to the forefront in your mind. A healthy mindset attracts the light.

Lesson learned.
